Treasure

Matthew 6:19

"Don't lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal;

Matthew 6:21

for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also

Today, the LORD spoke to me about treasure

He reached through the stars, past the hate and into the world that is passing away

He separated my keys from their key ring,

And then he made me think about treasure

And he did so, because he was thinking about you. And he was asking me to think about you.

See, I have a strange relationship to treasure, for a variety of reasons. I do not treasure money. I do not treasure things. I have treasured sex, and pride and ego.

Now, I treasure him.

Now, I treasure you.

I am not a bright person. Sometimes, I don’t know what it is that I have right in front of me.

And now, I wear a curse. A curse that is supposed to be filled with humiliation and shame, and maybe to a degree it is.

But the biggest part of the curse is that I had you for as long as I did, and I didn’t do with you what I should have or what I could have.

The LORD however, the LORD makes all things new. In this, even the filthiest coin can be bright as day with a glimmer of divine hope and eternal joy.

Today, the LORD fights for his church. Today the LORD fights for his bride. Today the LORD fights for his treasure.

Today, I fight for my wife. Today, I fight for my bride. Today, I fight for my treasure.

And so, we fight, and we wait.

I love you and I miss you. So much.

Hope I got this right, LORD. Amen.
